IVF in Spain: One of the most utilised techniques

22/OCT/09

If several techniques have been tried to obtain a successful pregnancy, but have failed, a possible recourse is IVF in Spain. This method is used most often because it allows couples with different fertility problems to have a child. The younger the woman is the greater the possibility for success, but it is also true that pregnancies have been achieved in quite advanced ages and in very complex cases.

30 years ago the first test tube baby was born. Since then, more than four million children have been born as a result of assisted reproduction techniques. Something that appeared unimaginable is now within the reach of everyone. As we try to have children later in life, live an intense lifestyle and add other circumstances to this, having children has become more difficult. IVF in Spain has allowed many couples to accomplish their desire to become parents.

The IVF technique consists of the fertilisation of an egg with sperm in a laboratory and the subsequent implant of the resulting gamete into the mother’s uterus. Here, frozen embryos play a role. Different embryos can be frozen for various functions: to use them if the pregnancy does not come to term, for later pregnancies, to donate them to another person in a similar situation, or to give them to science. The couple’s consent would be required in all of these scenarios.
